[opensuse-autoinstall] fetch profile via nfs in 10.3
Hi, in 10.2 I deploy the autoyast profiles via nfs, this works out of the box. To use it I call autoyast=nfs://.../autoinst.xml If i try it with 10.3 this is not possible. The installation sources are also deployed via nfs, which works fine. After starting the installation in autoyast mode it not possible to mount the nfs share. The reason is the locks can not be handled. As a work around I use http to deploy the profiles and nfs to deploy the rpms. Is this a bug or a desired feature? regards Ulrich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-autoinstall+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-autoinstall+help@opensuse.org

that's a bug. :( I have fixed that already but I did not create a driverupdate so far for 10.3 -- ciao, Uwe Gansert Uwe Gansert, Server Technologies Team SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Business: http://www.suse.de/~ug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-autoinstall+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-autoinstall+help@opensuse.org
I worked arround the not functioning NFS Client in 10.3 installation as follows: When Yast does not find the autoinstall.xml I manually switch to console 2 start: portmap rpc.statd switch back to console 1 and say yes to the question retry?. (reading the autoyast.xml) ->autoinstall works (nearly) perfectly than. Does anybody know how I can add portmap and rpc.statd to the 'prolog' of yast or maybe syslinux makeing the autoinstallation automatic again ? Best Regards F.Mueller Uwe Gansert wrote:

Could you please do that? We would need this functionality urgentlty. Under https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=329791 you can find the following information about that bug Status: RESOLVED Resolution: FIXED ... ------- Comment #2 From Uwe Gansert 2007-10-02 07:33:53 MST ------- fixed in 2.16.0 for 11.0 In my opinion a bug is not solved if it's only fixed for a new distribution. So could you please deliver a fix for 10.3? I use tftp instead, but I also think a BUG should be fixed in the same distribution, not in the next only. The next distribution should be for NEW or BETTER FUNCTIONALY, LESS Consumption of Resources, Faster Execution ... But I think I am too old, I have opinions from yesterday. Best Regards! that's true for critical bugs and it's true for SLES. This bug is not critical because you can fetch the profile in a lot of different ways and it's not SLES.
The next distribution should be for NEW or BETTER FUNCTIONALY, LESS Consumption of Resources, Faster Execution ...
... and tested by the people during the public beta phase if they depend so much on a feature. There are month of public beta testing where those bugs can be reported. See? We all have our dreams ;) openSUSE is a community project. -- ciao, Uwe Gansert Uwe Gansert, Server Technologies Team SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Business: http://www.suse.de/~ug listening to: DoublePlusUnGood by Seabound -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-autoinstall+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-autoinstall+help@opensuse.org
