Problems using a HTTP Repository and LVM Partitioning
Hi all, I am experiencing problems while the installation of SLES 9 with the following setup: A HTTP Repository holds the complete installation media and the autoyast xml control files. Booting the machine which is about to be installed works as far as it concerns reading the control file, partitioning the harddisk and starting the installation. The partition table looks as the following: /boot 100M /swap memory-dependant LVM containing / /usr /var /opt /srv The installation stops with this error message: ERROR(Media:Unknown error in subsystem)[/var/adm/YaST/InstSrcManager/IS_CACHE_0x00000002/MEDIA/media.2] If I do not use LVM the installation proceeds smoothly. Any help is appreciated! Kind regards Marko

work fine here with your profile and a HTTP installation source. Do you use Service Pack 3? -- ciao, Uwe Gansert Uwe Gansert, Server Technologies Team SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstrasse 5, D-90409 Nuernberg, Germany Business: http://www.suse.de/~ug now playing VNV Nation - fragments (splinter)

I am not sure about that, customer gave me a set of Suse CD, I guess it's just the SLES 9 install set. BTW we are using a virtual machine as the client, could this have some influence on the setup? Will the installation of SP3 on the repository side free us of the annoying error message? Thank you very much! Kind regards Marko
