Re: [suse-autoinstall] Tracking an error during installation
Hi Mitko, maybe you missed my first email. For debuging: 1) Set installation mode to text or press F2 on the initial boot screen Reason: During network installation of Suse 9.3 ( but booting from DVD ) i have got every time a error message saying something about ./var/...X11/.. missing Solution is to use Textmode ( F2) or F5 but NOT F3(640*480 ) - F5 i never testet. 2) use a simple "default" XML so your autoyast entry should look like: .../default hth Hajo

I looked at the log file and I did not see anything that stood out. Just in case, I am attaching my xml file (slightly edited for privacy).
I also tried attaching the y2log file but the mailing list rejected it since it was too big...
I one more thing that could be the problem: on the ALT-F3 screen/console, there are the following messages: starting setctsid "showconsole" inst_setup yast error setting kbd mode: Invalid argument install program exit code is 137 Could this be the problem that needs to be solve? And if yes, how can I change the kbd mode? Hans-Joachim, Thank you for your email! I am pretty sure that I already am using textmode for the install. The install is done over the serial console and I only get the ncurses (or such) interface of AutoYast.

Where is the default XML file located at? I don't see it anywhere in our SuSE 9.3 mirror location -- Mitko Haralanov mitko@pathscale.com http://www.pathscale.com ========================================== Man is the best computer we can put aboard a spacecraft ... and the only one that can be mass produced with unskilled labor. -- Wernher von Braun
