In order to make a Bill of Materials for the many folks in my office who want to try SuSE 8.2, I made an xml file using the "Clone this machine" feature. Unfortunately, many folks want to duel boot, or have different boot and partition requirements. Can I just remove the boot section (the one that defines grub and it's settings) and the <partitions> sections, and add the <confirm>? I'd really like for the system to ask them everything except the package listing, if possible. Can anyone suggest an easy way to go from my cloned autoinst.xml to that desired end state? Jonathon M. In this case I would remove it, cause the clone feature creates a complete configuration which might not work on different machines. For example, when cloning, you can do that by clikcing the checkboxes for the basic resource: bootloader partitioning And if you add confirm, then one can change those during installation.

The clone feature is provided to help building a control file fast, In almost all cases it should be customized to your needs, Maybe cloning was the wrong name for this feature :) Anas
