RE: [suse-autoinstall] Separate dirs for original and own packages?
I think to do this you need the instructions in section 4.5.3 of the docs, "Installing additional and customized Packages". Now, that said I haven't successfully managed to build the new package database and gotten YaST to be able to read it yet but I'm still playing with it. -----Original Message----- From: Ole Streicher [mailto:ole-suse-autoyast@gmx.net] Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 6:39 AM To: suse-autoinstall@suse.com Subject: [suse-autoinstall] Separate dirs for original and own packages? Dear group, I would like to use the original version of a SuSE mounted read-only, but I have some additional packages that should also be installed. Is it possible to have a separate installation directory for own packages when using autoyast? The documentation only states that it is no possible to hold everything in one place, which leads to the assumption that the opposite is (was?) also possible. BTW, I didn't get any reply to my last question about the sysconfig variable mystery. Is it really a bug or something trivial I have misunderstood? Hi Gordon,
I think to do this you need the instructions in section 4.5.3 of the docs, "Installing additional and customized Packages".
From this, I suspected that in earlier times it was possible *not* to mix
Yes, I did. This is the chapter which contains the phrase "Unlike earlier versions, to install custom and external packages there is no need for a special resource in the control file." the own packages with the original SuSE once but to have them in a separate repository.
Now, that said I haven't successfully managed to build the new package database and gotten YaST to be able to read it yet but I'm still playing with it.
I did, and it works (well more or less: I always get a warning "output dir: setup/descr/ is not a directory: ignoring" which is a bit mysterious (again :-) ), since the directory is really a directory. But this looks like a minor inconvienience. Best regards Ole -- GMX im TV ... Die Gedanken sind frei ... Schon gesehen? Jetzt Spot online ansehen: http://www.gmx.net/de/go/tv-spot
