Pb's in creating a custom distribution
Hello, I need a solution creating a custom distribution, which can be installed "without" any confirmation on several servers. We have the SLES9, and i try to do this whith AutoYast2. At this time, i don't have enough information / documentation to do what i want : My actual problems are : 1-My control file seems not be able to allow me to use LVM partitioning on a client server, 2-Many configuration parameters may be detected at the installation time ( such as type of network cards ), and not specified in this file, 3-The final distribution must fit on a CD, and i don't find a way to create only the distribution i have defined with the control file .... Has anyone an example with such a similar demand, ideas, procedures, or scripts samples ..? <file:///Q:/Jmarc/Informatique/ordi5.gif> Thank's for help. Jmarc. You should be more specific:
1-My control file seems not be able to allow me to use LVM partitioning on a client server,
Why not? Have you tried it the way it is described at http://www.suse.de/~nashif/autoinstall/9.1/html/CreateProfile.Partitioning.h...
2-Many configuration parameters may be detected at the installation time ( such as type of network cards ), and not specified in this file,
Network cards can be specified in the info file, i.e., the modules to load. Although I don't see why it is bad to autodetect them. The autodetection with SuSE 9.1 works amazingly well, even autodetecting raid controllers and preloading the necessary modules works (at least for installing). In case of e.g. several network cards you can enforce the modules to be loaded first in the info file.
3-The final distribution must fit on a CD, and i don't find a way to create only the distribution i have defined with the control file ....
What do you mean by that? Have you tried you own selection as described here? http://www.suse.de/~nashif/autoinstall/9.1/html/CreateProfile.Software.html#... cu, Frank -- Dipl.-Inform.
