Re: [suse-autoinstall] How to apply SP3 to server copy of SLSS 8. 0
Hi Tom,

PS. incidently, has anyone else been unable to get grub to correctly probe the disks on a HP Compaq DL360 G2? It just doesn't find any disks, and grub is completely fscked up so it won't boot. RedHat ES 3.0 works fine...
We got the problem, that our DL380G3 wouldn't boot with just one cpu installed. After parsing "pci=noacpi" as an additional command to the boot loader it worked. SuSE says this is an IRQ Problem of the hardware design from HP. By the way: With a a second cpu the problem does not appear. Kind regards Jan

This isn't quite the same problem as I had, but it's useful to know, thanks. The problem I had is that the automatic installation of grub (via a manual install) didn't detect /dev/cciss/c0d0 (RedHat did) and didn't put an entry for hd0 into device.map. So consequently menu.lst has entries like: title linux kernel ,0)/vmlinuz root=/dev/cciss/c0d0p2 initrd ,0)/initrd which is about as much use as a chocolate teapot! :-( Still haven't been able to fix it yet, but with manual grubbery, I have been able to get grub working and henve boot the server. I thought that this might have been fixed in SP3, hence the main request of "how can I apply SP3 to my NFS copy of my original SLSS CDs" Any idea about either? Tom
