Re: [suse-autoinstall] Root password setting
I have a profile which succesfully installed SuSE under 9.0 and 9.1 happily enough. Trying to update it for 9.2 however, it's refusing the set the root password automatically - no matter what I put in the users section, it seems, it still prompts me for a new root password (and then goes on to ask me about the firewall too). This is a bit hopeless for a hands-free install, which is what I want. I have tried precisely the suggestion of Anas Nashif, but without result. Any further ideas? Thanks. John

For me, it worked without problems. I have <user> <encrypted config:type="boolean">false</encrypted> <fullname>root</fullname> <gid>0</gid> <home>/root</home> <shell>/bin/bash</shell> <uid>0</uid> <user_password>Klar.txt</user_password> <username>root</username> </user> and autoyast sets the specified password. Using the encrypted variant also works. Ciao Ole
John, If you are getting a prompt to enter the root password then something is really wrong. This prompt only should come when installing manually, not during autoinstall. This could happen if the autoyast profile was not saved correctly during first installation stage OR if you have changed the control.xml file on the installation source. Please attach any logs, the autoyast profile and if you have changed it, the control.xml file. Anas John Sloan wrote:
