1) Set installation mode to text or press F2 on the initial boot screen Reason: During network installation of Suse 9.3 ( but booting from DVD ) i have got every time a error message saying something about ./var/...X11/.. missing Solution is to use Textmode ( F2) or F5 but NOT F3(640*480 ) - F5 i never testet.
2) use a simple "default" XML so your autoyast entry should look like: .../default
Well, I found out something interesting today! I am pretty sure it is not the XML file that is the problem. I tried using previous revisions of the XML file (ones that I know work) and I get the same error. Could the problem be somewhere in the installer or kernel/initrd images? -- Mitko Haralanov mitko@pathscale.com http://www.pathscale.com ========================================== I bet the human brain is a kludge. -- Marvin Minsky

Another interesting discovery!! The attached file is the pxe config file that I am using to boot the machine and start the autoinstaller (with some ips edited for privacy). Using that file, I have been getting the generic error that I have been dealing with. However, if I remove the the "console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200", I get the X11 install on the VGA port and everything work. Removing the first "console=tty0" does not help with my problem, either. -- Mitko Haralanov mitko@pathscale.com http://www.pathscale.com ========================================== You can't take damsel here now.
