partitioning SuSE Professional 9.3 keep partition
Hi,
I've a problem to keep a partition by a new installaiton with autoyast (SuSE
Professional 9.3).
There is a logical partition /dev/hda7 mounted on /data1 wich i want to keep
with all data on it. The oether logical partitions /dev/hda5 + /dev/hda6 should
use for "/" and "swap". The strange is that my XML-config did exactly what i
want in SuSE 9.2 but not in SuSE 9.3.
What i have, before installation:
/dev/hda
Partition Size Mount FS Type
/dev/hda1 extended partition
/dev/hda5 376mb swap swap logical partition
/dev/hda6 5gb / ext3 logical partition
/dev/hda7 xx /data1 ext3 logical partition
What i want is the following:
/dev/hda
Partition Size Mount Format FS Type
/dev/hda1 extended partition
/dev/hda5 auto swap F swap logical partition
/dev/hda6 5gb / F ext3 logical partition
/dev/hda7 xx /data1 -- logical partition (KEEP)
My XML-configuration looks so:
<partitioning config:type="list">
<drive>
<device>/dev/hda</device>
<initialize config:type="boolean">false</initialize>
<partitions config:type="list">
<partition>
<mount>/data1</mount>
<create config:type="boolean">false</create>
<format config:type="boolean">false</format>

</partitions> <use>5,6</use> </drive> </partitioning>
What have i get wrong? How can I configure what I want (also with SuSE 9.3)?
instead of <use>...</use>
can you try
Thanks for your answer, my trying has no effect (exacly the same result): diff 83c83 < <use>5,6</use> ---
7
the second ... diff 83c83 < <use>5,6</use> ---
1,7
also no effect :-( Uwe Gansert wrote:

1,2,7 or whatever you want to keep? You have to edit the profile by hand for that.

try to add "prefer_remove" then. I thought this would be default but might be
not.
Hi,
this does also not work
the partition part is:
<partitioning config:type="list">
<drive>
<device>/dev/hda</device>
<initialize config:type="boolean">false</initialize>
<partitions config:type="list">
<partition>
<mount>/data1</mount>
<create config:type="boolean">false</create>
<format config:type="boolean">false</format>

true 1,2,3 I just tried this and this works fine for me. If this does not work, post the partitioning part of your autoyast profile please.

can you try this one? If I get you right, you just want to keep partition nr.
7 and don't care about the rest? I just want to know what happens after this.
