Control file not found - must be an easy mistake
Hi! I tried an autoinstall with an autoinst.xml on a floppy and the Suse 10.0 (retail version) installation DVD, like outlined in the 7.3.2. section of the autoyast documentation "Auto-installing a Single System". When booting, the floppy gets accessed, but the logging console says "You must supply a control file", or something similar (I do not have the machine right here now where i can write mails). Yast also says that it cannot find a control file. I tried no special kernel paramater, but also "autoyast=default" und "autoyast=floppy" without success. The xml control file is named autoinst.xml and is placed in the root of the floppy. I must have overlooked a silly little detail... Thanks for any help... Regards, Stefan Pfeiffer -- # Dipl.-Phys. "autoyast=floppy" is reading a "autoinst.xml" file from the floppy. Maybe there is something wrong with the syntax of the file? If you can find a file /tmp/YaST2-NNNNN-XXXXXX/rules/autoinst.xml", the file was found and copied from the floppy. Then I would expect syntax errors in the xml file. Take a look at /var/log/YaST2/y2log and search for "autoinst.xml" look out for errors around there in the log file. -- ciao, Uwe Gansert Uwe Gansert, Server Technologies Team SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstrasse 5, D-90409 Nuernberg, Germany e-mail: uwe.gansert@suse.de, Tel: +49-(0)911-74053-0, Fax: +49-(0)911-74053-476, Web: http://www.suse.de
Hi! Problem solved: The additional kernel parameter "instmode=cd" together with "autoyast=floppy" was the key, everything works now. Regards, Stefan Pfeiffer Stefan Pfeiffer wrote:
