I hope that I am posting to the appropriate list for this, I am sort of new with SuSE. Ver 8.1 Minimal install (not an upgrade) on 2 machine. Both have the same problem. Issue: Cannot perform an online update of my system. I receive an error of not being able to initialize the session. I can however establish a manual ftp connection, and I do have a working network connection via DHCP across a broadband ISP. I have tried the wget update from SuSE using the yast2rpmmanagager update, no success. I am lost as to what to do from here on out. I do know that I do not have a wgetrc file in my /etc dir. I am assuming that the minimal install does not include support for online update. I can not perform another install because of the GUI install. My machine(s) crashes EVERY time without the updates. one is a Toshiba laptop satellite 2545cds and a desktop Asus a7v AMD 1 GHz, promise controller. I have resolved the a7v promise issues, but the GUI crashes a lot so I went back to a minimal install. I hope this can help you help me. I am frustrated, I have posted a support request to SuSE an have yet to hear back, and if I call their support it is long distance and there is no holding QUE so it is a shot in the dark to speak with anyone. Thanks, Aaron

Hi Aaron: I had the same problem. SuSE have missed wget from the minimal install. You need to install wget from the SuSE cds. I reported the problem to SuSE some weeks ago but have not had any feedback yet. Regards Steven. On Wednesday 13 November 2002 19:30, Ash Corbin wrote:
