[opensuse-autoinstall] RE: Autoyast can't find packages, patterns
Hi! I'm a newbie to this list. I am trying this list because I have received no response from Novell's own forum for installing SLES10. I have a SLES9 server we use for Autoyast NFS network installs of SLES9 servers. I am trying to set it up with a SLES10 build in the same manner. Everything looks good as far as copying files from the CD isos up to the installation source directory, and the directories look good and mount ok via NFS, but when I try to install via NFS using the boot from a SLES10 DVD, it reaches a point where it stops with a list of the packages we put in the XML profile and says it can't find the packages. After hitting enter, then it says it can't find the patterns. I can see the packages in Suse/i586 and the patterns files in Suse/setup/descr. Both of these places are pointed to in the content file. The path given for the installation source directory is correct. The install server syslog reports repeated authentication for mounts and unmounts for the nfs with no errors. Can someone help me with what I am missing here? Can it somehow be not finding the path or dropping the path? TIA! I apologize for not having the answer, but I'm curious - you bought SLES but you don't have support from Novell? This seems like the sort of question tailor made for a call to their support staff. The few times I've picked up the phone to call them, they've been pretty helpful. How did you copy the content to your install server ? Via the install server setup function in yast ? I think there has been some changes in the way multiple CDs are laid out between sles9 and sles10, but I'm not sure what they are in detail. On SLES 10, the individual CDs just go into separate directories, unlike with SLES 9 that required a special install structure. so if you have: ./installroot/ ./installroot/cd1/ ./installroot/cd2/ ./installroot/cd3/ ./installroot/cd4/ you would set the kernel command line parameter to "autoyast=..../installroot/cd1" and it should work fine Yan
