I have found that the best way is to borrow/buy the sony PCMCIA and boot from CD then load network drivers and install off the network. I too have had troubles with the USB floppy modules disk. There might be suse workaround for the USB floppy modules disk problem -- but you should probably ask the SLE (suse-linux-english) list rather than the autoinstall list. eric Chrissy LeMaire wrote:
Hello All, I have a sony vaio n505vx with a 3com cardbus 575 ethernet adapter. I currently do not have a working CDROM and I'm trying to install off of the FTP site. I run into a problem once I get to the blue menu screen and it asks for a modules disk. The menu screen does not see my USB Floppy and it will always say "Error reading from floppy disk!". I've tried this on suse 7.3 and suse 8.1
I found some guy that patched his boot 7.2 disk to work with 3com 59x, but unfortunately, thats not a 575 :/
Anyway, is there a SuSE network boot disk? I found a mandrake one and attempted it and it worked sweetly, but ive been using suse for years now and I don't want to switch over this problem.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks.
