if you stop the installation with the confirm dialog, do you see anything suspicious in the proposal screen? Check the "Software" link there too. you can stop the installation by passing "y2confirm" to the linuxrc Maybe you can see some resolver errors or so.
Thanks, I had tried all that before and it showed no problems at all. Now I ctrl-alt-f2ed when the error occurred, chrooted into /mnt, fetched the RPM manually and tried to install it, and then I finally see some information on screen and in the zypper.log (see attachment).
