Hi, we are using sles11 in a vmware (esxi) enviornment and on Dell R510 Raid 5 devices. I've read there are performance issues due to a unsatisfying partition layout on the operating system which doesn't fit to the unterlying partition layout from the hardware/disks. Instead of one read request the underlying devices have to make two because the blocks are shifted and are not suit on eachother. i.e. - a report from netapp http://media.netapp.com/documents/tr_3593.pdf Is there any way to insert a start offset in the partition layout in the rules.xml file - or are there any other suggestions regarding this problem?
