Hi, off topic: okay, but how to add a card to the system with UNIQUE? When I use yast it didn't work. There should be a way to create such a ID or even better yast should create it the same way it does during install. -- Hans

when I install linux using SLES9 my network card will get a unique name in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-id-MAC, in the file there is a 'UNIQUE' value set.
When I insert a new network card after the installation, the network card will not get these UNIQUE values....not really a autoyast issue or ist it?
Hi,
the UNIQUE field is provided by the hardware detection library and YaST uses it to decide whether the card appears as yet unconfigured or not. It is not specific to autoyast.
