Hi there!
I'm currently using the auto-install features of yast1 combined with alice to install clients all around here.
A recent post at the ALICE mailing list said, that SuSE 8.0 will no longer ship with yast1 nor ALICE. As I really need an automatic installation I'd like to get some documentation about the features present in the new Yast2 (which is said to support auto-installation, too). If possible *before* SuSE 8.0 ships ...
Is there some place to get a pre-release of SuSE 8.0 for test reasons?
I hope Yast2 will still be able to run directly from network without the use of floppies or CDs - cause that's what I liked about the old solution. Sure. AutoYaST2 also has many features which were not available with neither alice nor yast1. Now you can store the so called 'info' files on the network and retrieve them using http, tftp, nfs..
Please let me know about any available information about Yast2 and automatic installation
Documentation, and in the future are related information can be found at http://www.suse.de/~nashif/autoinstall/ Regards, Anas -- Anas Nashif <nashif@suse.com>, SuSE Linux AG Montreal (Laval), Canada Tel./Fax: +1 450 978 2382
