How to recover 2 GB of HD space after I install and uninstall SuSE

Hi, Recently I got SuSE linux installed on the extended partition on the only disk of my laptop which has XP installed in the primary partition(NTFS). Before SuSE installation the size of primary as shown by XP was 18 GB, and that of extended was 12 GB which makes sense as my laptop has a 30 GB hard disk. After installation, XP shows the size of C drive i.e. the primary partition as 16 GB. Where did the other 2 GB go ? And I just uninstalled SuSE, and got the extended partition formated to NTFS using XP's disk management utility. Even then the sizes are 16 and 12 GB. Now, the question how do I recover the other 2 GB ? And what's the root cause of this problem ? Thanks in advance Angshuman
