We have to migrate some server with SLES11-SP2 from x86 to x86_64. The hardware is already 64-bit and we're are thinking about an update via autoyast and PXE.
Has anybody done such a migration (with or without autoyast) without a fresh installation? Do you have any concerns doing it via autoyast?
From a support point of view: A migration from x86 to x86_64 is not supported and as far as I know not possible. If you want to change the architecture, install the system from scratch and migrate your configurations to the new installation. We only support upgrades within the same architecture. Please take our support policy into consideration when planning this. You might end up without support for your SLES systems.
