I need help on setting the rules.xml setup for our SLES 8 machines. Any alternative for rules.xml will be useful, even if it requires scripting.
The thought here is depending on the disk being ide (hda), scsi (sda) or other (c0t0d0) I need to supply the proper autoinstall.xml file.
Has any one done a similar setup?
I think your only chance is to use the IP address of the client described at 5.7.6: http://yast.suse.com/autoinstall/sles8/html/invoking.html Your dhcp server can hand out specific IP addresses to specific MAC addresses and so you can have a special profile for each host. That should help to solve your problem. It might even be, that SLES8 tries to fetch a profile with the named like the MAC address of the NIC. Take a look at the access_log of the webserver what autoyast tries to fetch. -- ciao, Uwe Gansert Uwe Gansert, Server Technologies Team SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstrasse 5, D-90409 Nuernberg, Germany e-mail: uwe.gansert@suse.de, Tel: +49-(0)911-74053-0, Fax: +49-(0)911-74053-476, Web: http://www.suse.de
