Well, in my sp1 image, that directory has: ls linux/suse/x86_64-sles9/ dud.config inst-sys y2update in it. dud.config has info on the SP: cornholio x86_64-sles9 {1195}$ cat dud.config UpdateName: Service Pack 1 UpdateID: 7cbcbaef9f9d4490 UpdatePriority: 100 inst-sys has a few updated binaries/libs, probably to override those on the root image from the SLES9 initial release: cornholio x86_64-sles9 {1201}$ find inst-sys/ inst-sys/ inst-sys/sbin inst-sys/sbin/save_y2logs inst-sys/usr inst-sys/usr/lib64 inst-sys/usr/lib64/YaST2 inst-sys/usr/lib64/YaST2/plugin inst-sys/usr/lib64/YaST2/plugin/libpy2qt.so inst-sys/usr/lib64/YaST2/plugin/libpy2qt.so.2 inst-sys/usr/lib64/YaST2/plugin/libpy2qt.so.2.0.0 inst-sys/usr/lib64/libhd.so.8 inst-sys/usr/lib64/libhd.so.8.78 and y2update has a bunch of udpated yast scripts.. or at least I think that's what they are.
