Hi, Marcus Meissner forwarded me to this mailinglist regarding a problem I have with installing packages in the postinstall on SLES10. We created a few extra repositories (using mrepo) and add these with a rug-command during the postinstall. The next thing we would like to do is install some of the packages from these repositories in the postinstall. Sadly, running 'yast -i' does not work, because of an error message that yast is already runing or the package database is being lock by another yast: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-sles-e/2007-Dec/0032.html What I am doing is explained more in the original message of this thread. So what is the best way to install packages in the postinstall from a repository without adding the packages directly to the installation media. PS We are now using 'rpm -U --quiet' on exact URLs, but that is problematic if we update one of these packages as we have to manually edit the postinstall phase. I much more prefer that we rebuild the repository metadata and let 'yast' do the installation of the latest version in the postinstall.
