you dont have bootloader configs and no /etc/fstab in your image right? if > you have those, delete them.
There is only the /etc/fstab file in the images witch will be replaced during restore of the image, like in your example script for openSUSE 11.1.
If it still does not work then, then I have to reproduce it here. I had no problems with that on openSUSE 11.1: http://ugansert.blogspot.com/2009/03/imagine-autoyast.html
