Re: [opensuse-artwork] FifthLeg font
Hi, don't follow artwork regularly, but I stumbled on this discussion and I wanted to ask something. You are discussing replacements for Fifth Leg font and you wrote in discussion[1] that it has been already decided to replace it, can I ask as non-artwork guy, what is wrong with Fifth Leg? Apart from some people being bored with it... Maybe you can just point to the original discussion and decision about the change? Don't take me wrong, I'm really curious although I admit that I like Fifth Leg and I think that it is something that helps us differentiate... Hmmm, so I see the small discussion between three people and the start of the discussion is that the font doesn't play well with the poster... And from the rest of the discussion I gather that it is not well suited for ordinary text (which was never it's purpose), so the point is not to replace it in the logo, but to provide some guidelines for ambassadors and other people what font should be used for marketing materials... Am I right? In that case I can stop worrying :-) -- Michal Hrusecky <Michal@Hrusecky.net> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Currently we use FifthLeg on gfxboot welcome screen (that was the reason for cyrillic glyphs creation) and maybe plymouth. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Marcus I actually got to use Lato last night for a different project and it looks great. Very clear, very sharp, readable. Would you also consider Open Sans? I have used that one for some time too and it seems also very clear in both Gnome and KDE, more than others that I have tried. Open Sans has a very complete set of fonts as well. However, I am not sure that they support Cyrillic. I see, then a font change for openSUSE on the desktop is a conversation for another time. I have been looking for support on cyrillic fonts that can also do latin, but it is pretty slim a selection. I will keep looking if it is relevant. Andy (anditosan) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
