[opensuse-artwork] [GTK]Adwaita + openSUSE, part 2
Hey guys, I've taken up the adwaita, greening it up and such, and seems i forgot to edit the dark theme (thanks, Guido!). Anyway, here's the version with the dark theme also modified: https://ssl.eumx.net/owncloud/public.php?service=files&t=d38e20036e66209c29465161bfbcf920 Now, i'd like us to stop for a minute just to brainstorm a little further: 1) You've seen the icon theme i used (moka icons - the owner made an opensuse repository also, you can get them on www.mokaproject.com - do try them out. The artist made them especially for gnome). I found the shade of green i used to play nicely with them. Now, my question here is - would it be possible (and how) to use them by default in the next release? I think it would be easier then modifying the gnome theme... or not? 2) The shell theme is pretty neutral, so i'd leave it default. 3) Any other input? Please, do check it out. We could create a really pleasant environment with very little effort for the next release. P.S.: Guido, thanks for pointing out the letters vs green shade issue. Do you propose a specific hex color for the green color, according to the guidelines? Hey guys, I've taken up the adwaita, greening it up and such, and seems i forgot to edit the dark theme (thanks, Guido!). Anyway, here's the version with the dark theme also modified:
https://ssl.eumx.net/owncloud/public.php?service=files&t=d38e20036e66209c29465161bfbcf920
Since people are always asking for screenshots: - GTK2: http://susepaste.org/65365852 - GTK3: http://susepaste.org/10071843 - GTK3 dark: http://susepaste.org/90654096
Now, i'd like us to stop for a minute just to brainstorm a little further:
1) You've seen the icon theme i used (moka icons - the owner made an opensuse repository also, you can get them on www.mokaproject.com - do try them out. The artist made them especially for gnome). I found the shade of green i used to play nicely with them. Now, my question here is - would it be possible (and how) to use them by default in the next release?
It seems to use all square icons and is designed to go with a flat theme.
I think it would be easier then modifying the gnome theme... or not?
Not necessarily, you could just override (by setting Inherits=gnome in index.theme) the following icons from gnome-icon-theme: - location/folder - location/folder-documents - location/folder-download - location/folder-music - location/folder-pictures - location/folder-publicshare - location/folder-saved-search - location/folder-templates - location/folder-videos - location/user-bookmarks - location/user-desktop - location/user-home - status/folder-drag-accept - status/folder-open - status/folder-visiting - actions/document-open - actions/folder-new and recolor them from brown to a greenish tone.
2) The shell theme is pretty neutral, so i'd leave it default.
3) Any other input?
I've spotted a few bugs (see the above screenshots): - in GTK3 radio buttons in "inconsistent" state are still blue - in the GTK3 dark mode, scale widgets are still blue - the color of the radio and check buttons looks very different from the rest, it should probably use the same green tone as the other widgets/highlights
Please, do check it out. We could create a really pleasant environment with very little effort for the next release.
Yes, thanks for your work so far.
P.S.: Guido, thanks for pointing out the letters vs green shade issue. Do you propose a specific hex color for the green color, according to the guidelines?
I think the base color should be a bit darker so that there is sufficient contrast with the white text, see this mockup: http://susepaste.org/65354483 (just to get the idea, you don't have to use that exact same color I used here). -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

OK. I'll try to 'light it up' a little, i see your point. And i see i missed one radio button also.I'll fix it asap. Quoting Guido Berhoerster <gber@opensuse.org>:

Hi, If anyone is interested in working on decent rgb values I think that we should keep everything in sync. The new installer theme I worked on has slightly different RGB values than the ones we suggested in our SVG so I would suggest looking at that as well. On 30/07/14 11:58, Nenad Latinović wrote:

yes, see http://susepaste.org/98802427. Please rebase the new theme on https://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/tree/gtk/resources/theme/Adwaita and not gnome-themes-standard, otherwise you will have to start over from scratch when GTK 3.14.0 hits Factory in September. You can test against the gtk3 (currently 3.13.5) in GNOME:Next. Also note that Adwaita now uses sass rather than plain css, so you now need to edit the scss files and compile them to css via sass. It should be much easier now to modify colors, it looks lik you'll only have to modify a few base colors in _colors.scss, most of the derived shades/tones are generated via sass. -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, FYI the GNOME team currently plans to ship GNOME 3.14 and thus GTK 3.14 in openSUSE 13.2. The 3.13 development branch is packaged in the GNOME:Next project, the first version they intend to submit to Factory is the 3.13.91 beta release that is according to the preliminary schedule due in the first week of September. Until then it probably makes sense to develop the GTK3 theme against the GNOME:Next project, any theme package could also be hosted there for testing. This is actually good news since themeing GTK 3 has become an order of a magnitude easier in 3.13/14 with the integration of Adwaita into GTK itself and the switch to Sass. -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
