Re: [opensuse-artwork] https://github.com/openSUSE/branding
Hi Stephan, Thanks a lot, this is great! Pulling it now :) Ilmehtar/Richard
Stephan Kulow 07/12/12 1:52 PM >>> Hi,
I cleaned up the art git repository on gitorious majorly and pushed the result as branding on github. Every distribution is a branch on its own, not related to others. The way we worked in the art repo, just doesn't work for git - the repo grew already to 1.5GB. In having a branch per distribution version, we have the possibility to delete older branches at one point and then the history will no longer be checked out. And you can use git clone --single-branch to avoid getting 12.1 if you work on 12.2 I'll commit to the art repo soon to make it clear that the branding moved. Not sure what we make with it :) Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

The 12.2 design is rather fat. 5 megabyte per SVG that practically just contains a radial-colored background? Seriously. On a closer look, there are lots of small dimples - circles - in the picture when zooming in. However, they are barely visible in 1:1 display size, as they meld with the real background. I'd call that artificial dithering. Oh, memories of 20 years ago when that technique was used to come by the 16 color limit. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Jan, I seriously ask you to stay away from artwork. You're good at many things, but just leave the artwork to others. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

You are always welcome to participate of the contests made at the artwork team. If your proposed designs are chosen, we can help making them available for all the computing needs there are out there. So far, the community voted on these current designs and they will stay for this release. We are also getting ready for the next release with some extra plans for artwork. Please stay tuned.
Greetings, Stephan
