[opensuse-artwork] openSUSE themed icons
Hello all, I dont know if it has been brought up before but why not have some openSUSE themed icons for the default theme? I know its a lot of work (if I was talented enough to make them, believe me I would) but I think it would be great if the defaults were green instead of the oxygen blue which clashes with the theme. For example the folder icons in the oxygen theme are a blue while the rest of the theme make everything green so they stick out in a bad way. I was just wondering what you guys thought about the idea. Regards, Uzair
Hi, ushamim, Technically it's easy to get it done (Personally I can gurantee, well, less than a day's work for KDE). And it's an one time job (Oxygen upstream hasn't changed their folder icons for some time) so we don't need too much maintenance. But: if I do the job, I need an openSUSE wallpaper to Marguerite On Sun, Jun 22, 2014 at 7:54 AM, Uzair Shamim <usershaman@gmail.com> wrote:

You could use the one on here http://lizards.opensuse.org/2014/06/13/opensuse-13-2-artwork-proposal/ I dont think its that great to be honest (Geeko is too bright and the bg feels too simple) but I don't really have a better alternative. -- Regards, Uzair Shamim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

The sources are available and Victor has already started to improve it: http://opensuse.ethz.ch/13.2/openSUSE_13_2_lin.svg which you could do, too, instead of blaming. Greets Marcus

I wasn't blaming anyone, just saying what I didnt like about it. And I really have 0 artistic talent so I doubt I can improve it in any way. -- Regards, Uzair Shamim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Why not? You said you think the Geeko is too bright. So you could open it in inkscape and try to adjust the color. No artistic talent needed for that. Greets Marcus

Fair enough, messed around with it a bit and got http://paste.opensuse.org/view/raw/42060848 -- Regards, Uzair Shamim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
Hi, Sorry, my fault...Gmail has been blocked in my area again (two times a year) and my VPN connection breaks last night maybe. I meant: I need our new colorscheme to find a basic color and gradients. But I don't think we officially released one after the discussion on openSUSEconf 2014. I don't want my work to be invalid in a very short time. Marguerite On Mon, Jun 23, 2014 at 2:36 AM, Uzair Shamim <usershaman@gmail.com> wrote:

Oh of course. I fully expected it to be for a future release and I have seen the osc14 presentation by Ken and Zvezdana regarding the colorscheme suggestions. That will probably have some interesting influences on design decisions so I guess I will have to wait and see what happens :) Thank you for at least some commitment to the idea though, the blue icons really don't make sense with a green theme. -- Regards, Uzair Shamim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

I tried this out and I have to say well done. For the most part the colors look great, although I don't really like the inactive highlight color (see: http://paste.opensuse.org/view/raw/47144042). Besides that I enjoy using the theme. Going to mess around with the KDE colors and see if I can make it more to my tastes. -- Regards, Uzair Shamim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, the inactive highlight color is something that I did not manage to influence. It seems to be auto-generated. The options in the system settings concerning inactive colors, do not seem to have any effect. Luckily you can disable this feature completely, in the color settings. Greets Marcus
Hi, There's already an "folder-green" icon in oxygen-icon-theme-scalable package. Is it good or even close to replace the default blue one? or we need an even darker one? screenshot: http://paste.opensuse.org/1882788 script to replace the default blue icon: http://paste.opensuse.org/89347879 Marguerite On Tue, Jun 24, 2014 at 2:13 PM, Marcus Moeller <marcus.moeller@gmx.ch> wrote:

Isn't oxygen completely changing for the next plasma release? Yes, modifying the existing oxygen theme is a good idea, making things from scratch would be a pain. Quoting Marguerite Su <i@marguerite.su>:
