I ended up on that very same photo by personal choice and it was used widelly for openSUSE media articles, and no one asked me either for permission ;) I think that most people would be proud on being on the cover, and not tail us legally, though some GIMP handling could be done to remove Sirko ;) NM

I think I understand your concerns in full, and you are right... But if we think closely that photo has been used in lots of places, including for media... So far I haven't seen no one complain. It's for promoting openSUSE Community, from whom those are the faces of openSUSE Community. There's no corporate labels, no project disputes, just contributors.
From my side, as I am one of the persons in the photo, I wouldn't raise a problem, but there's more people there and it's nice someone brought up this issue. Maybe in the future when we take a 'family' photo we can ask people if they mind we use it to promote the community. From my perspective it is very important to promote the community with some faces. A simple reason for this:
* We are people! * We aim for people! * Even those who aren't our traditional audience, might be traditional audience of our sponsors or 'customers' (in the cases where this can be represented by a service promoted by openSUSE); So, the key feature is actually people! And no, we're not pioneering this, Fedora is doing for a long time and with quite a success. I would truly love to see this issue worked, because I believe it can make a huge different in approaching our users. Either way, I truly love the DVD sleeves. At first when Sirko presented the wallpapers I found them too dark (and I still do up to a point), but after seeing the implementation made, it gives a hell of a kick arse image. NM

Awesome, though FWIW I think the cover looks excellent as it is. The main text reads well, and I do like the invitation to be part of it at the end. There probably isn't time to be over-workshopping.
