[opensuse-artwork] Fwd: [Submit] One click install source
Oh, I replied the wrong thread...FYI: Andy polished my version further! ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Andres Silva <anditosan1000@gmail.com> Date: Wed, Nov 6, 2013 at 9:35 AM Subject: Re: [Submit] One click install source To: Marguerite Su <i@marguerite.su> This is what I ended up coming up with http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h414/anditosan/one_click_install_alterna... and this http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h414/anditosan/OneClickInstall_zps0a2969... I just like the simplicity of the icon. It has the number 1 there and also a down arrow, which seems to indicate downloading. Long ago I wanted to make a new icon representing one-click-install. Do you think you could work something out with this icon instead?

or this one

These icons are pretty candy...but I don't think we can brand that much.
You see, I searched Google, and find it's really hard to find a new "download" icon or a new "click" icon.
They all looked like the same arrow pointing to the downside and a hand.
So I think they have become a fixed usage...there's no much space left for us to reinvent an icon telling users "aha, this is a download, well, that is a one-click-download".
Because they may simply don't even wanna know the difference...
They may just wanna know: oh, this is a "software" download. this is from "openSUSE". They just need know where they'll be redirected and what they'll start to download...a link and the texts are enough for them to know it's a download...
So I think placing an icon telling him it's "openSUSE" or "software batch" might be more helpful.
What do you think, man?
PS: I think we need to draw an icon for the .ymp mimetype. Because currently on openSUSE, those files are displayed as a plain text file....so I think we need something like this [1] to tell them it represents a "software pack"
