[opensuse-artwork] 13.2 release outstanding work
Hi all, In order to help get 13.2 out the door I would like to ask everyone to help make a list of graphics-related items which are still outstanding for 13.2. If I am such a n00b that I've missed this list somewhere else, please excuse me (in advance). I'll start with my items and ask for everyone to simply reply to this email with theirs and any information necessary around the item. 1) Fix bugs in the installer: - There are several open bugs concerning the installer theme that I started working on. Our team will work on these bugs so that they are fixed in time for the release. 2) Update the countdown banners to match the graphics of the desktop - In the past the banners always used the current desktop background. https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Countdown shows the current stuff but our team would like to take a whack at making something that fits to the desktop design of 13.2 itself. If this is not needed or wanted that is not a problem for us, we'd like to spend time learning about making banners and this seems like a good place to start. 3) Insert Your Item Here :-) Thanks! -- Kenneth Wimer SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Good point. I dont know if its possible but it would be nice if we could have suse themed oxygen icons instead of the default kde blue ones. In other words I am suggesting we just edit the current KDE icons so that the folders and other generic icons are green instead of blue. I think it would be a nice touch and I am pretty sure some people in this mailing list have already created a couple. As always keep up the great work guys, I really like what has been done so far! FWIW the source for the existing generator is here: https://github.com/openSUSE/countdown.o.o Whether this method still fits current needs would be something to evaluate.

I would like to share my idea for countdown (unfortunately just one at the moment but if I think of something more I will share). I used same "principle" and colors but not same shapes, I simply didn't like how it looks with same shapes like wallpaper. I see that you use code which runs countdown, since I don't know how to use it I included just simple text in files to have preview. This is my starting point, made it in illustrator http://paste.opensuse.org/87626481 http://paste.opensuse.org/64631578 and tried to recreate in inkscape and this is result: pngs: http://paste.opensuse.org/78913301 http://paste.opensuse.org/59760294 svgs: http://paste.opensuse.org/255653 http://paste.opensuse.org/79733916 only thing I was not able to achieve here is nice shadow which bland in same way like in illustrator. So all of you who know all inkscape secrets please share them with me :D Suggestions and comments are welcomed.
This is my starting point, made it in illustrator
http://paste.opensuse.org/87626481 http://paste.opensuse.org/64631578
and tried to recreate in inkscape and this is result:
pngs: http://paste.opensuse.org/78913301 http://paste.opensuse.org/59760294
svgs: http://paste.opensuse.org/255653 http://paste.opensuse.org/79733916
only thing I was not able to achieve here is nice shadow which bland in same way like in illustrator. So all of you who know all inkscape secrets please share them with me :D
Suggestions and comments are welcomed.
The results should go to:
https://github.com/openSUSE/countdown.o.o
soon. Please note the templates for different aspect ratio.
There should be a render script available, to see how it will look like.
I'm guessing that you just spoke Latin to Zvezdana :-P Is there anyone who knows about this that can help?
We're just designers :-)
If this is not needed or wanted that is not a problem for us, we'd like to spend time learning
about making banners and this seems like a good place to start.

Hi Ken.
In order to help get 13.2 out the door I would like to ask everyone to help make a list of graphics-related items which are still outstanding for 13.2. If I am such a n00b that I've missed this list somewhere else, please excuse me (in advance).

Create a fork on Github Clone the fork Modify the relevant files git commit git push Create a pull request on Github Wait till it's merged Ask Ludwig or someone else to update the live version You can use render.py at any time to try if it's working for all locales. Hope that helps. Greets Marcus

You cannot mess up that much, as long as you do not have commit rights on the upstream repo. Please create a pull request, as I have described earlier, and someone will take care of it. Greetings Marcus

Hey nice work, I'm on modifing the git repo ... Once I've cleanup a bit the mess in 13.2 by splitting texts and background in each layers. In the first run I will not modify the text position. The Enlightenment theme has a couple of icons that could do with a little tweeking but there not used in the default config so if i don't get there i'm not to fussed. I should also probably document where the themes are and how to build / modify them, but the release doesn't really depend on that.
