[opensuse-artwork] vid start animation
I was asked in IRC (#opensuse-artwork@freenode) to see if I could make a small quick animation to go at the start of official videos related to openSUSE and im looking for opinions and help what i have so far http://mfoxdogg.com/opensuse/logo_test_03.avi and the .blend file for use inside blender http://mfoxdogg.com/opensuse/vidstart_non_bmesh.blend I would like this to be community involved and like to see it evolve into somthing that is solid -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

I found it excellent. The only small glitch I've seen (even if I understand the why) is using a wrong typo OPENSUSE at the beginning. I would try to avoid it. Just using openSUSE big -> smaller when Geeko jump on it. Also I would try to have 4secs in total, like slowing down it a bit. But that's just a personnal taste. Congrat. It's really something easy to use, moreover with the sources. -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Ambassador GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

That was the whole idea behind the original design concept, to "teach" people the proper way to spell openSUSE. Geeko comes in and bounce-pushes down the OPEN to become open. However, it seems from several people who have seen the video that the concept itself did not catch on. Hmm..
Also I would try to have 4secs in total, like slowing down it a bit. But that's just a personnal taste.
Hmm.. maybe something more creative, if its possible. Example idea: Geeko circle-head logo comes in and sees the OPENSUSE... you hear Geeko say "hmmm..." then the circle-head jump down to fix OPEN to open and as bounce back up you see flash-bang and circle-head turns into full-body Geeko? Bryen
Congrat. It's really something easy to use, moreover with the sources.

not bad, but is that allowed. The official logo use is strictly restricted (the wiki is down just now, so I can't give the link) thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

It is restricted what is considered logo and any change makes it not a logo. This includes proportions, orientation, color, included text. Details can be found on the web in the few agencies that deal with registration of trademarks. I've checked US, German and France. (And I have no links as it was just transient interest.) -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Note that those rules are most relevant for OUTSIDERS. openSUSE has a right to the trademark. Now we should not break the rules that much ourselves but we can make exceptions. It'd be silly to sue ourselves, in any case... So don't go too crazy but if you want something and can only do it by bending the rules a bit - do it :D
