[opensuse-artwork] Wallpapers selection
There is a lot of photos and graphics around the web and many are potentially fine wallpapers. How to find them? Browse and when you have something you like post link to the wiki. For now use http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Wallpaper_graphics_(proposals) Note: The ideal wallpapers are not busy pictures. They will not make desktop items hard to find, or at least they will have large areas where users can place icons and they will be nicely visible. Also look for the license. It should permit: * non-commercial use, * it should permit derivative works If not, you can still ask author for permission. openSUSE web is a good place to publish someones work as opensuse.org has a lot of visitors, many more then some other places where people publish their work. The idea is that from this collection one will select those that go into next openSUSE. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

That was exactly idea, you can list it like: -----8< part of the wiki ---------------------------------------- ==Enrique Pacheco== *http://www.enriquepacheco.com/photo * License: We need explicit permission. * NOTE:Web site is using java script, so links to particular images don't exist. Numbers are from page index. * http://www.enriquepacheco.com/south-iceland **4,5: Nice, unusual, not too busy reflection from still water. **6: Nice, long exposure, water, clouds, ice. **7,9: Unusual sunset :) * http://www.enriquepacheco.com/auroras-borealis **6: Ice and aurora. **7: Daylight aurora. **8,9: Sky only aurora. **10: Sky and clouds. * http://www.enriquepacheco.com/westfjords-iceland **2: Bird. **5: Not ideal wallpaper, but impressive photo. **7: Fjord at sunset. ------8< part of the wiki ---------------------------------------- And there is one small problem with page like this. It is using Java script, so you can't link individual images, so I listed last available URL and added locations of images manually. Those few are my favorites. License can be a problem. It is not given any info on license and by default all belongs to Enrique, so we need explicit permission for images that we want to use. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Sorry, it has to allow commercial use too - otherwise sponsored openSUSE mirrors and selling burned CDs become a grey zone we don't want to get into. You are diligent :) If you don't have time to add your favorites to http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Wallpaper_graphics_(proposals) I'll check web page tomorrow and add mine :) -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Good. In any case collection of links on the wiki makes no obligation, and those links could be used by openSUSE users directly, just as any web site visitors, so no legal gray zone for openSUSE. The only affected images would be those that we plan to include on media. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
