Hi, Yes I do and you get my last mail right. This is simulation for that wallpaper because someone said that one is not vector art. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Ha... I just know why you were so against me, you seems to be the author of the wallpaper that I criticized. 1. Wear my heart in case of the "talk is cheap, show me the code" thing: https://github.com/marguerite/openSUSE-zh-artwork/blob/master/wallpapers/clo... https://github.com/marguerite/openSUSE-zh-artwork/blob/master/wallpapers/ope... https://github.com/marguerite/openSUSE-zh-artwork/blob/master/wallpapers/big... http://ww1.sinaimg.cn/mw1024/ed7abe25gw1eh6yffor17j204x0gbwey.jpg 2. Just talk about the wallpaper: https://www.google.com.hk/search?q=openSUSE+wallpaper&newwindow=1&safe=stric... looks familiar? everyone can do wallpapers with openSUSE logo in the center. And the lines and cycles in that wallpaper look like unfinished work to me. We are all amateur artists instead of Canonical paid ones, that's okay. But we at least should try to convince our users that we do stuff with all our hearts, we at least should try to convince our users that we do draw stuff instead of scratch. Here's the standard for openSUSE wallpapers (in my view): http://www.linuxidc.com/upload/2012_09/120902061754461.png Not every mixture of gradient/line can be taken as default wallpaper. The ones I pasted in (1) are all rejected ones for previous contests. 3. Talk about "creative". I'm not a creative person, but I know what is creative: Personally I think Andy did lots and still be creative (one of the wallpapers I pasted in that thread came from him), and this guy Marcos.B.R(https://plus.google.com/+MarcosBR/posts)brought new air to our list although he don't know how to be creative using inkscape. and I am just a pixel-to-pixel copyer compared with them. Here's my theory, if I'm a newbie and know nothing about Linux: A. Ubuntu: http://izteglimi.com/data/1920x1200/ubuntu-linux-wallpapers.png B. openSUSE: http://paste.opensuse.org/view/raw/42060848 Certainly I will choose A as my distribution. Again: A. Deepin: http://beautifullinux.com/web/wallpaper/Deepin-10.06/images/music.jpg B. openSUSE: http://paste.opensuse.org/view/raw/42060848 Certainly I will choose A as my distribution. A good wallpaper is the most important thing in marketing. That's why we should pick something outstanding instead of ordinary. We use lines/flowers too much? That's okay, that's a symbol for us. But at least we should have some complexity and fresh look. That's my definition of "creative". Again, I'm hoping Andy can give us something fresh, meanwhile I have some ideas under implemention myself. But I am not Doraemon, I don't have a bag to throw things whenever someone wants my "creativeness". Sorry, you got me wrong. I really appreciate your work, and to me it's totally equal which concept is chosen for the release. I just know the amount of work that will occur on any artwork change (including all KDE components), and I want to make sure, that there is enough time for that. I would also welcome any help in these areas, no matter on which basis. So for me the focus is on deciding on which of the concepts to use, to work further on the components. I would even consider to stick with your latest proposal, if it's okay to anyone else. But as you wrote, you want more creative artwork, I thought you would like to come up with something new. If you want to do so, this week is a good time ;) Greets Marcus
Hi again,
Here's my theory, if I'm a newbie and know nothing about Linux:
A. Ubuntu: http://izteglimi.com/data/1920x1200/ubuntu-linux-wallpapers.png
and btw. can you spot the similarities: http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/tutorials/173429d1314981906-desktop-b... (default windows 7 wallpaper). Greets Marcus

I am of the opinion that we might want to remove any branding from a wallpaper or at least make it a central item on our artwork. I say this because of the idea that the wallpaper on the distribution needs to be more pleasant and drive the user to his/her work rather than the image itself. On the subject of creativity, I think it all goes on the eyes of the beholder. While Marcus may think that the wallpaper lacks creativity another person may think that it is the most creative of wallpapers. Eventually the decision will fall on the person that is going to actually package the image. That is his/her issue to deal with IMHO. Surely we should avoid making value statements about a piece of artwork depending on our own personal criteria, however, we should also find balance in making comments that will push a designer to produce new version and think outside the box when making a design for a wallpaper. As I see it with this rendition from Marguerite, I feel that combined with the environment, the color pops and shows character and attitude. My impression is however that we could tone down the contrast on the image just so it does not feel like a flash in the eyes when firing up the computer. Just about 4 steps less contrast or saturation would probably feel more at ease IMHO. Otherwise, great work and don't stop designing! -- Andy (anditosan) anditosan.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

character/attitute w/ hardware...personally I like candy/bright colors and technically these colors display differently (dimer) on my screen. I found out that a year ago, LCD/LED or Apple Retina is not the same thing. my designs always look sharp/brighter on my iPhone. That's also one of my assumptions for the color usage: we can't imagine that everyone is using a breeding-edge new computer. It's not like printing that you handle the same papers to the audience. our color usage has to have some tolerance. PS: how to "4 steps less contrast or saturation" in inkscape?
