[opensuse-artwork] My thought about the 10.3 default scary wallpaper
I got a little scared when I saw the new default wallpaper, it reminds me a monster, it sort of reminds me the Alien movie: http://www.thecodingstudio.com/opensource/linux/screenshots/original/openSUS... http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/3/3c/A_Xenomorph.jpg http://www.daviddarling.info/images/Alien2.jpg Do you think we could change the drawing a little bit, just not to look like a head...? I do believe the wallpaper is changing in the next beta. Current preview is here: http://en.opensuse.org/Branding_Overview:os10.3:Wallpaper What do you think? Hi Francis, Yes it's better, although the bow reminds me the beak of a screeming bird turnt to the left, I have too much imagination, I know :P -- Charles A. I do like it, much better and not so painful for the eyes. Attached one I did based on jimmac's work. Hylke

Hi Hylke,
not too shabby at all. I would suggest making the stripes less apparent
though, perhaps even using focal blur
(http://registry.gimp.org/plugin?id=4123).
Nice one though.

Why not just keeping the 10.2 blue wallpaper? It's nice. "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" :-) -- Charles A. Landemaine. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+help@opensuse.org
Hmmm I like the new backgrounds better. Erik -----Original Message----- From: Charles A. Part of me agrees, yet people expect some evolution. It doesn't have to
be as dramatic as in the past though. Maybe it's time to play with fyre*
again :)

I think these green and blue backgrounds are not bad but somehow "plain". What about a real photo instead of a "plain" background? There are plenty of incredible photos free of rights out there... Well, it says "The goal of the default wallpaper graphic is to be unobrtusive and allow the items on the desktop to be seen. It should not hinder the overview of user's desktop." The guideline doesn't enforce solid backgrounds. I realized I blogged about it a few months back.

I would prefer to see greenish default wallpaper for openSUSE. -- -Alexey Eremenko "Technologov" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+help@opensuse.org
None of any major Os I know come with a solid background. Unless I'm mistaken, you want the user to see a nice desktop, not only something "usable", especially for a first experience. I really like the wallpapers you suggest on that blog. For me the default blue wallpaper of 10.2 is perfect. Nothing to complain about, really. -- Charles A. Landemaine. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+help@opensuse.org
