Hi Nelson and others,
Just a question out of curiosity... We are looking for a single all around sleeve cover (ex: GNOME, KDE, SPINS, DVD, etc) or are we looking into personalized covers according to project/LiveCD, etc? Think of as if we are looking for a single all around sleeve for now.
It's true that we're investigating to make GNOME and KDE spins in their own sleeves. I'd like that, and if we had a nice design for the spins its probably easier to convince people to cover the extra costs for that.
There's one big advantage to have both spins : Gnome and KDE We can propose each foundation our cd to be distributed on their booth So KDE e.V. can offer openSUSE KDE DVD promo (and not only kubuntu) and Gnome can also have a openSUSE Gnome DVD to propose and not only another U :-) This is very important for us. Does it matter if we offer 2 DVD to a newcomer in Linux, I don't think. Will that complicate a bit the ambassador request, certainly. Sorry Jacqueline for that ...
A all around would probably lower costs based on production. Another pertinent question is the ammount of colors to be used. I'm not sure how it works in Germany, but in Portugal the color pallet used does mess with pricing.
I believe thats similar here. This is what it says on the offer, does that make it clear (*) ? Yeap totally, also the pdf and doc given by Henne.
Spezification Nr: ST0129-O or ST0129-R Size: 125x 125 mm finished size Material: approx. 230 gsm standard card board Colours: 1-4 c CMYK + varnish (no UV) Assembly: Auto insertion of one disc
regards,
Klaas
(*) I am not so in graphics design, sorry for the dumb question ;-)
Maybe this will help people tunning their work :)

Hey,
we are still nowhere with the 11.4 promo DVDs right? I haven't seen any designs yet. Producing these means to deal with some DVD mastering company which means serious business. We always wanted to produce them on our own, now is the time to step up and make it happen. Please don't take this lightly.
Enough of scaring you ;) I finally received some production details. Let me share them with you so you can get on your drawing boards!
The DVD itself will be double sided so we can only print on the inner ring. Details about that you find in this specification:
http://www.arvatodigitalservices.com/fileadmin/specs/english/dvd_label/dv pr0014%20-%20Silk-Screen%20Printing%20Label%2012cm%20double%20sided%20%28 DVD10%20%26%20DVD17%29.pdf
The papercase will be made after specification ST-0129R. You'll find that one here for instance.

There are also some old covers around in the opensuse/art repo on gitorious. I bet you can base your work on those.

Now lets get cracking please :) Please show us your ideas for the promo DVDs ASAP so we can collaborate on one. Thanks in advance guys!
