[opensuse-arm] openSUSE 12.2 Beta for ARM
Hi Dirk and Coolo, Since Adrian is on FTO this week, this one goes to the 2 of you :). I would really like to see us publish a sort-of-working 12.2 Beta for ARM. Now that the official 12.2 beta is out, all we need to do is take the current state of openSUSE:Factory:ARM, branch that off into its own OBS project and freeze it, right? That would allow the build to settle down for said release, so we can have images for people outside to test and get eager to have a working 12.2 on ARM eventually! Hi, I think we missed the current beta, and need to head for the next one. there are too many packages still failing to build (see the internal build, which is a bit further than the external one), so we really need to solve these issues first. do you prefer to freeze to avoid the current breakages in factory to unfold in :ARM? I think we have a list of known problems that we can work on already without caring about the occassional Factory breakage..

thats something we should discuss with coolo in person (how when ..) Greetings, Dirk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

Hrm. I don't think it's too much of an issue if 10% of the distro don't build yet, as long as we have a consistent repository out.

I'd mostly like to have a state I can point people to and say "if you want to develop something cool based on opensuse for arm, use this repo which is known-good". Right now, we have a factory repo that is in a terrible state, as it's halfway armv7l, halfway armv7hl, and only gets published every other month, because we never manage to keep up with the builds.
That would allow the build to settle down for said release, so we can have images for people outside to test and get eager to have a working 12.2 on ARM eventually!

Sure, but please let's share whatever we discussed, so we actually end up being an open project ;) Alex -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

Actually freezing to get images out is something I asked from Adrian too. Because right now perl is new and you won't be able to install anything useful. So arm missed another chance.
