[opensuse-arm] ARM in the 13.2 release announcement
Ladies and germs, The release of 13.2 is imminent and it has come to be that in the current draft of the release announcement there is no mention of ARM :-( Is there any chance we could rustle up a paragraph or two of the key ARM related features for inclusion in the announcement? Things I can think of - Unified kernel for ARMv7 (listing platforms supported), Unified kernel for ARMv8 supporting Applied Mustang and AMD Seattle boards, KVM & Xen support, etc. Please provide information you think worthy and I'll collate it all for the announcement. Many thanks, Andy -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org
Hi Andy, I think both Chromium and Firefox builds were fixed on ARM since 13.1. That may be worth mentioning; BUT for some reason the actualy firefox build in 13.2 is broken right now :<!!! Its crazy since it worked weeks ago ... chromium has succeeded its build, but not for armv6 (unresolved dependencies?) So, sadly the news I was going to propose are not as good as I thought they'd be ... Am 27.10.2014 um 13:36 schrieb Andrew Wafaa:

Hi Josua,

Yes, its been broken for a few weeks already. I don't have a fully working version yet, was only able to submit the first build error fix so far.. Any help here greatly appreciated. In general with 13.2 bootstrapping there have been way to many very central packages not building on at least one of the ARM architectures, so more help in watching for build failures and fixing them is greatly appreciated. I had hoped to be able to announce support for the Parallella, but with the choice of 3.16 kernel that did not work out. :( Raspberry Pi would be something to announce, once the Contrib is tested working. Also, please double-check and test before you announce Xen support - it seemed disabled in 3.17 and I left it disabled for 3.18. Hi Andrew,

Yes, I think thats the main new feature. Both ARMv6 and aarch64 tree's are severly broken and I'm unsure if we can get them fixed before the release - there are too many central packages not building (yet).
Unified kernel for ARMv8 supporting Applied Mustang and AMD Seattle boards, KVM & Xen support, etc.
I'm not sure if listing Xen support is a good idea - at least I never tested it. The current 3.16 kernel also does not work at all on aarch64, we still need to get changes into the code stream for that.. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

openSUSE ARM is being broken faster than we can fix it ;) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

Latest stable u-boot (v2014.10) is included. You could mention that all tools available for x86 openSUSE is (should be) also available for ARM (YaST, ...). I tested some boards with 13.2 images.
