[opensuse-arm] OpenSUSE 13.1 for armv7 upgrade
Hi all, OpenSUSE 13.1 for PC just came out. I understood that there will be an armv7 version. Is that correct? And if so, when and where can I find it? What is the (preferably easy) way to upgrade my existing 12.3 to 13.1 (by not reinstalling everything)? Thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

Currently, our ARM images are not ready. What is your board?
What is the (preferably easy) way to upgrade my existing 12.3 to 13.1 (by not reinstalling everything)?
I would recommand to backup your system (make an image of your SD card) to restore it if things goes wrong. Moreover, kernel for 13.1 is not good ATM (does not boot on beagleboard and pandaboard, at least). So, you could upgrade the software in your rootfs, but not the kernel ATM. Guillaume

Thanks for your quick answer. I have a mirabox and I suppose the standard kernel won't work anyway (it took me quite some time to get a running kernel when I installed OpenSUSE 12.3). I already made an image of my SD card, thanks for the hint.
So, you could upgrade the software in your rootfs, but not the kernel ATM.
So that means the rootfs for OpenSUS 13.1 is already available? Where can I get it and how do I upgrade? Thanks again. ----------------------------------------

Our kernel-default should work if you pass a valid device tree for the mirabox.

Yes and no. I mean you can do a "zypper dup" using 13.1 repos: http://download.opensuse.org/ports/armv7hl/distribution/13.1/repo/oss/ Otherwise, the 13.1 rootfs is available here: http://download.opensuse.org/ports/armv7hl/distribution/13.1/appliances/?C=M... Grab the latest armv7 rootfs tbz file. Please tell us if all is ok once updated. Guillaume
Thanks again.

Somehow that is not working for me, the repository is not recognized by YaST. I compared it to the working 12.3 repo and notice that 12.3 has a repo/oss/suse/repodata/ directory, which 13.1 is lacking. Could someone check on that please? Hi Andreas,

whats the output of zypper lr --details ? is it detecting the repo as yast style? Unfortunately the default type is repomd, which will then fail. Greetings, Dirk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

My 12.3 repo (previously updated from 12.2) was fact of type rpm-md. Verbose version of what I said above: The YaST repository module refuses to let me the change the URL by s/12\.3/13\.1/g, so I don't get new lr --details output that way. Editing the /etc/zypp/repos.d/ .repo file manually, I can do s/type=rpm-md/type=yast2/ but then it complains: File '/media.1/media' not found on medium 'http://download.opensuse.org/ports/armv7hl/distribution/13.1/repo/oss/suse/' The solution to that is to drop "suse/" from the baseurl= line, then it works! So it seems the original user "error" was to not remove the trailing suse/ part, with which it does not recognize the repository as valid. Is there any upgrade guide where this is or could be documented for the benefit of others running into that?
