[opensuse-arm] A bit confused about Raspberry Pi and armv7l in repository
I found apparently some images for the Raspberry Pi in http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Factory:/ARM:/Contrib:/R... however the name contains armv7l, whereas the Raspberry Pi contains a ARMv6 chip. So my question: is this really usable for the Raspberry Pi? -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

I'm running it on the Rpi 2. So far everything works. Still playing with it though. Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org
Can someone explain the use of the ":" in some of the directories? -----Original Message----- From: mike <mike@mikenjane.net> Date: Fri, 7 Jun 2013 16:29:16 To: <opensuse-arm@opensuse.org> Subject: Re: [opensuse-arm] A bit confused about Raspberry Pi and armv7l in repository On Friday 07 June 2013 03:23:52 pm Freek de Kruijf wrote:

PLEASE, do not use top posting Don't know the answer, but it seems to be some separator needed in OBS.

@Mike: http://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Raspberry_Pi contains a warning that the image there from 18 Nov 2012 is broken; did not try it. The file openSUSE-Factory- ARM-rootfs-JeOS.armv7l-1.12.1-Build18.1.tbz from 11 Apr 2013 does not seem to be an image. So my question is which image from there are you using. Currently I am trying to run the recommended image in the mentioned wiki page. Apparently that image does not have an active ssh daemon, so I can't use ssh to access that system. I do see its IP address in my network. Another question: where do I find the project in OBS that generates these files in the above repository. I really searched for it. -- fr.gr. I made mistake with the IP address, now I can access the Rpi via ssh. Also found out that in fact armv5l is the used architecture. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

I made a mistake too. The image I used I got from the RPi forum. It seems to work OK. But there is a lot to add if you want full function. Yes, the image created by OBS is broken because boot partition is ext2 which is not supported by Raspberry Pi. FAT32 is not supported in OBS (kiwi). The image is created by a community member.
