All seem to fail booting with "initramfs unpacking failed: write error" followed unsurprisingly by a kernel panic, apart from JeOS where the screen shows just the Tux logo without any text.

I'm wondering whether that may simply be an out-of-memory situation. The 1B had only 512 MiB IIRC. Probably the initial Kiwi initrd has grown too big once again... As reported earlier, my Zero is booting 4.9 and 4.10-rc kernels fine, so I am assuming this is specific to the Kiwi image.
