[opensuse-arm] First boot of Leap 42.2 aarch64 image on RPI3
I tried the image openSUSE-Leap42.2-ARM-JeOS- raspberrypi3_aarch64.aarch64-2016.11.09-Build3.2.raw.xz from http://download.opensuse.org/ports/aarch64/distribution/leap/42.2/appliances... on my RPi3 and found one problem. It hangs when a USB drive is connected, otherwise it works OK. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org
Hi Freek, Where does it hang? Before U-Boot? In U-Boot? In Linux? Alex On 11/18/2016 11:04 AM, Freek de Kruijf wrote:

I don't know if it is before or in U-boot. I see a message about scanning USB devices and after that message. After removing the USB device I get the GRUB screen etc.

Can you provide this "scanning" message in whole? Someone may be able to spot something you missed. Kind regards, Stefan-- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

Since you see a message (so you're at least in U-Boot) and you're before GRUB, it means this is U-Boot's USB probing function. That one should time out after a while though. Doesn't it? No I waited quite a while, 10-15 minutes, but it did not time out. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

That's a shame. If I had to blindly guess I'd say power isn't enough to turn on your USB drive and the logic to abort it isn't working properly. I think the best option at this point would be to report this directly to the U-Boot mailing list, so that upstream can resolve the problem. The USB drive has its own power. So this should not be the problem. How do I subscribe to that list? -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

I don't know if you have to subscribe to post, but here are the details: http://lists.denx.de/mailman/listinfo/u-boot Alex -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

We had a Tumbleweed bug for this and it got resolved through either a u-boot-rpi3 or raspberrypi-firmware update. Before we report anything upstream we should make sure that 42.2 has the fixed versions, because upstream does not maintain stable branches for older versions.
