[opensuse-arm] Raspberry PI Images broken
Good Morning I tried the last 2 weeks some images for the Raspberry PI. But all stops during boot. After the kernel loads i got /lib/modules/4.3.3-5-raspberrypi/kernel/drivers/net/usb/usbnet.ko error=No such file or directory and also after that a second boot ist not possible the partitions are damaged. I dowload the images from https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Raspberry_Pi openSUSE-Tumbleweed-ARM-JeOS-raspberrypi.armv6l-2016.09.16-Build1.2.raw.xz But also the grafik images have the same error. I dowload the images from https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Raspberry_Pi
openSUSE-Tumbleweed-ARM-JeOS-raspberrypi.armv6l-2016.09.16-Build1.2.raw.xz
But also the grafik images have the same error.
The last days I also tested my archive of armv6l images and I can confirm that since a couple of months this issues exists. I also wonder why the kernel version in the images went from 4.3.x to 4.6.x and back to 4.3.x although zypper dup on running systems installed kernel-default-4.7.3-1.1.armv6hl. Ciao, Michael.

i opend a bugreport https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1001077 Please comment it. Then we have a greater change to get it solved. BR Torsten -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

Simple: If you choose to run an unofficial Contrib image that does not use our Tumbleweed kernel, you will have to live with the pain of fixing your /boot/zImage, /boot/init and /boot/dtb symlinks whenever Tumbleweed installs new official kernel-default or dtb-bcm2835 packages. There's a reason official images exist that do not have that problem. When using upstream based kernels you can even use a GRUB boot menu to switch between kernels, only the /boot/dtb symlink is relevant then. I've been meaning to update the image to GRUB, but with http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=989284 it seems a bad time to drop the separate /boot partition... Theoretically the same place the official packages get published: http://download.opensuse.org/ports/armv6hl/tumbleweed/images/ But something's broken with publishing images... The packages are published just fine, so I assume an OBS script is broken. Dirk, Adrian? In the meantime you can either take a published image and update it to the latest Tumbleweed or download a newer image from OBS directly. E.g., for JeOS-raspberrypi click on the .raw.xz link and on the following page download the link in the title: https://build.opensuse.org/package/binaries/openSUSE:Factory:ARM/JeOS-raspbe... `osc getbinaries` may also work. Factory doesn't publish the same way normal projects do. Where would you expect it to point? armv6hl, armv7hl and aarch64 all go to different download locations from one repository. And you would only find published images there anyway, not the latest ones built. Which is why I described above how to download instead. Note that the download link may require to be logged in. That sounds like Kiwi is actually running, so you can probably just ignore the module error. Give it some 10 or 15 minutes to complete on first boot. If you interrupted it, start over with a new dd'ed image. It Works!!!! OK my fault, i had to wait for the first time. One more question, which images should i use for the future. http://download.opensuse.org/ports/armv6hl/tumbleweed/images/ or the images listet here https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Raspberry_Pi BR Torsten -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

They're both on that Wiki page. The former link corresponds to the section "Installing openSUSE images using upstream kernel (does not include hardware video decoding)"; what you've been using corresponds to section "Installing openSUSE images using downstream kernel (includes hardware video decoding)". According to Bugzilla upstream vc4-drm appears to be broken on the rpi1: https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=996614 So if you run headless, definitely go for the official image, that'll save you trouble; if you need HDMI and it's not working for you as reported above (can't test myself ATM), stay with the Contrib image or try blacklisting the vc4 module to keep using simplefb. Note that there is not much magic apart from boot.scr in the JeOS images, so it's possible to convert from a downstream based image to an upstream based one by installing kernel-default and dtb-bcm2835 and either replacing boot.scr or installing grub2-efi (which takes precedence over a boot.scr on a later partition). Also note that these images and corresponding comments are about the original Raspberry Pi. For Pi 2 and Pi 3 separate images exist. https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-arm/2016-09/msg00032.html Cheers, Andreas -- SUSE Linux GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org
