[opensuse-arm] Raspberry Pi 3 - 64-bit
Hi, I just noticed that there is a new raspberry pi. See: https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/raspberry-pi-3-on-sale/ It is a quad-core Cortex A53 (64-bit). Probably not EFI compatible. Probably not EFI compatible.
Not only will it most likely not be EFI compatible, but it is also 32bit only. There is no 64bit support for the kernel at this time, and The Foundation are only just starting to investigate whether to support 64bit. The advantage of this version over previous is an increase in performance and also integrated ethernet/wifi/bluetooth.

Hi,

Yeah, the wifi thing is a big thing for me, I immediately ordered one. I created a test image for the Rpi3 here: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/devel:ARM:Factory:Contrib:RaspberryP... Probably we'll have to include u-boot for this, will see once my hardware arrives. Excellent, thanks for this Drik!

I'll try and give this a spin tomorrow when my units arrive.

Greetings, I keep downloading new images and now even with brand new HDMI Acer V246HL screen, no progress :( I recieved some unsillicited email from a naughty reseller and I did check contents and found RPI3 on sale. I ordered from Farnell though and expecting delivery quite soon. Thanks Dirk, will test your image and report! Next Software Freedom Day is on 19th March, I will really like to show this running on openSUSE. Best wishes and enjoy your week, J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org
