[opensuse-arm] Tumbleweed images for Raspberry Pi 3B and 3B+
Hi When will new Tumbleweed images be published for Raspberry Pi 3 (3B, 3B+)? Images on http://download.opensuse.org/ports/aarch64/tumbleweed/images/ are dated Feb 02, 2018 and don't work on the 3B+. Or can I use an alternative method to install Tumbleweed on a 3B+? (how?) Thanks. Publishing is still broken :(. Let me poke again.

You can get the latest images directly from OBS: $ osc getbinaries openSUSE:Factory:ARM:Live JeOS:JeOS-raspberrypi3.aarch64 images aarch64 That image boots (for the most part) for me on a B+. Unfortunately the current Tumbleweed kernel (4.16.5) does not contain my fix for the network adapter yet, so you get a kernel oops on boot. Once the kernel is on 4.17 that should be ok though, as I unfortunately forgot to mark the patch[1] for stable, so it won't get into 4.16. JFYI, it seems there was never a release. openSUSE:Factory:ARM:Live is publish disabled, but has a release target. The release target openSUSE:Factory:ARM:ToTest has no JeOS binaries. -- Adrian Schroeter email: adrian@suse.de SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg Germany -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

Alex, If you send E-mail to GregKH telling him that the patch should also be applied to 4.16, he will add it to the older kernel. Larry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

Looking through my email Greg actually did queue it for 4.16 yesterday :) It still means that it's not in current Tumbleweed builds yet. Alex -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

I just downloaded the latest image with osc and tried it on my Pi 3B+. The image identifies itself as:
openSUSE Tumbleweed 20180603 - Kernel 4.16.13-1-default
The image boots, I can login now, but unfortunately the Pi does not get an IP address. I tried Wifi also, no IP.
Any tips how to get this working?
If you are using NetworkManager, it could be bsc#1095592 (fixed in Kernel:stable, probably not in Tumbleweed repository yet).
And with a static IP address it does not work either.
This sounds different, though. Any details on what exactly "does not work either" means? Michal Kubecek -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

So using a static IP address does not give me network connectivity.
A cable is plugged in to the interface? I think something changed a while back (in Leap as well, and not just on ARM) where even if an interface should get the address ON BOOT, it will not get it unless a cable is plugged in. ON CABLE seems to be all that ever happens. -- Roger Oberholtzer -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org
