Hello, A few days ago I read on IRC, that the old Genesi kernel is being transformed into a proper rpm package. Question: could this kernel be used in the imx51 image instead of the "official" kernel? The advantage is having all hw components supported, most notably graphics, and that there is an up-to-date image to get started. The image without graphics support is a no go for most users, so currently one can only use the image from http://lizards.opensuse.org/2012/01/21/opensuse-arm-image/ and update it, which is a kind of difficult, especially since the armv7l -> armv7hl change...
hm, we should not build appliances in openSUSE:Factory:ARM which are using external repositories.
What we can do is to create another project and build the image there.
This is exactly what I did. Please check out openSUSE:Factory:ARM:EFIKAMX. I didn't get around to verify that the image actually works, so I didn't announce it anywhere yet.
And disable/remove the one in oFA.
I think the oFA image still makes sense for people who can deal with the upstream limitations. Maybe we shouldn't publish it as an officially supported image to the outside though.
Best would be of course to merge the kernel source to avoid that ...
No chance. The old kernel is based on 2.6.32. Too much has changed since then. Alex -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org
