If i use the sub-filesystem as it is standard after the installation i have allways messages like this in /var/log/messages : --- snip --- May 11 20:44:29 uruk kernel: cdrom: open failed. May 11 20:44:34 uruk submountd: mount failure, No medium found May 11 20:44:34 uruk kernel: subfs: unsuccessful attempt to mount media (256) --- snap --- this appears every 5 sec in the same way; i did't inserted any cd or dvd in the drive ... if i type "umount /dev/dvd" it stops. when i try to change a cd/dvd i had to use the umount command too, because if not the drive starts to close when it is half-opened - i hate this when i'm just trying to insert or remove a cd ;-) if there is no other solution i'm going to replace this subfs lines in /etc/fstab with iso9660 and so on like in kernel 2.4.x; i hope this is possible to turn off the subfs. greetings, Franz Mit schönen Grüßen von Yahoo!
