Hi, I just got a Wacom Graphire3 USB tablet, and had some troubles to get it working under SuSE 9.2 (amd64 edition). The X server simply crashes on loading the wacom driver. Well, obviously wacom_drv.o is broken, and recompiling from the source (that's 0.6.6 then) fixed the problem. Recompiling wasn't easy, I'll send a patch to the linuxwacom maintainer in the next days (the attached patch is to be applied after configure, so what's really needed is to change the configure file; that'll take longer ;-). But to keep other people out of troubles, I've put the compiled binary on the web. http://www.jwdt.com/~paysan/wacom.html or direct to the driver: http://www.jwdt.com/~paysan/wacom_drv.o.gz Please, SuSE maintainers: Put that fix into your update, it's simply annoying that it is still there, when it already was reported here for SuSE 9.1. -- Bernd Paysan "If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself" http://www.jwdt.com/~paysan/

Thanks, I've forwarded it. Merry Christmas! Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

The compilation problem on amd64 bogs down to several things: * First, _XSERVER64 needs to be set. * Then, the X library needs to be .../lib64 * No -D__i386__ I've now managed to change the configure procedure so that it detects whether to use the _XSERVER64 flag, and fixed the other stuff, too (like the broken way to check for the X library path). Please, linuxwacom developers, incorporate this fix into your next release; Linux is not just x86 only. This is not really a 100% complete and satisfying fix, since the xorg sources scatter some include files around so that the build process can't reach them. I copied those to locations that can be found. -- Bernd Paysan "If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself" http://www.jwdt.com/~paysan/
