Hi All! I just have a quick question. After fixing the bug in SuSE 9.1 with sound (has something to do with Kmix and KDEMultimediasomethingorother), I have managed to get sound working. Unfortunately I have to shift the speaker connection from the green connector that Windows uses for sound, to a connector two places up the card (may be blue). Does anyone know what I can do to make SuSE use the green connector on the SBLive! card? I'm not a big fan of plugging and unplugging live devices at the back of the PC :-) My system is AMD 64 2800+ with SBLive sound card, running SuSE 9.1 Pro 64 Bit (and XP on another drive). Seeya Rod!

It works for me correctly with the old OSS non ALSA SBLive! driver (and a old SBLive!). -Andi

I kind of don't even see the problem here, it's almost certainly just messed up mixer settings(muted master control??), I have an SB Live! here(5.1), with 4.1 speakers, and I don't recall ever having any significant problems with either artsd or OSS emulation... In fact, I didn't even bother much with the onboard sound, I like this one as it is. I don't remember when was the last time I've actually tested whether the surround speakers work(meaning, actually have 2 more channels rather than just emit some sound :), but I'm quite certain I have them connected to the corresponding colours on the back(and that 4.1 sound worked at *some* point), plus headphones to the surround jack.

This may sound realllllyyyy dumb, but which connectors are which (my card never came with any manuals)? I am using a set of Altec Lansing 2 Satellites plus a sub. Seeya Rod!

Nevermind that one, I've realized I've watched a DVD with surround sound relatively recently :)

It should have the markings on the back panel, but IIRC, lime(light-green) is front(line out), black is rear, pink is microphone, blue is line input, and orange is digital/headphones("SB Live Analog/Digital Output Jack" control in alsamixer, off for headphones). Check the "4-speaker stereo" control, too...
