I just found Anas' announcement to the Beowulf email bounce, and the suse82-beta download is running as I write. Good show, SuSE! But as I browse through the download directory I wonder: will there be an update service on this distribution? Or will I need to choose between patching manually and buying SLES? No support and beta means updates may happen or may not happen. More likely they will not. If you need support consider SLES. -Andi

I plan to release new kernels as RPMs for 8.2. For other packages there's no plan right now - and I consider the distribution as so stable (despite it's beta status) that no critical updates are needed. If you note something, feel free to tell here and we'll listen - but don't promise right now anything. Btw. if somebody fixes Gnome, I'm open to incorporate the patches and release fixed packages...
If you need support consider SLES.
